GoMemphis Disc Reviews
By Bill Ellis
Ex-Memphian Rick Moore is back with his latest serving of rock and blues stew, a concert date from Nashville's Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar simply titled "Live in the USA" (Music Network, 3 stars). Joining him on nine tracks that go for the good-time jugular is his band of pros Mr. Lucky, a group with keyboardist Tim Hinkley, whose resume extends from Al Stewart to Whitesnake, and hot lead guitarist Sammy Stafford. Covers include a slinky I Wanna Get Funky by Albert King and Randy Newman's Guilty (sung by Hinkley), though it's Moore's own compositions that define the disc, from the Creedence Clearwater Revival stamp of Chicken House Blues to the sweet soul of Let Me
Down Easy. This German release can be found at Music Network's Web site. |
